Days 1 to 2 - Nairobi, Kenya
You will fly to the Samburu airstrip and transfer by road, through the park to the Sarara Camp. Owned and run by the Samburu Community, Sarara Camp and the Samburu region is home to an enormous elephant population. Explore the diverse area on game drives with the Samburu Guides. Join the Samburu ladies to do some beading and visit the singing wells and honour an age-old tradition.
Visit the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, designed to rescue and release orphaned and abandoned elephant calves, whilst creating much-needed benefits to the local people that live alongside them.
Spend 3 nights at Sarara Camp, found within the lands of the Namunyak Wildlife Conversation Trust. An area of approximately 850,000 acres lies folded around the southern corner of the fabled Mathews Mountain Range of northern Kenya. A conservation success story, today there are thousands of elephants in the area, up from zero in the late '70s. Other wildlife species include leopards, close-up sightings of the normally extremely shy lesser kudu antelope, African wild dogs and buffalo, giraffe, gerenuk, impala and warthogs which are now regularly seen on game drives and bush walks.
Sarara Camp's luxury tents boast gorgeous views, are spacious and ensuite. The camp's pool is a regular stop for elephants
